Chandigarh, the city of Goddess Chandi, is now known for what?

Chandigarh is all set to become first solar city of India, Chandigarh is rated as cleanest city of India. The capital of two states, union territory and first planned city of India, is still missing something. Chandigarh is city which is having everything but is not perfect. Chandigarh is city which is like a paradise for pensioners. Chandigarh is a small city, which always amaze foreigners because of its infrastructure, planning and cleanliness that is not there in maximum cities of India. Few cities are known for its culture like Mysore, Lucknow etc. Some cities like Ooty, Shimla, Nainital etc. is known for natural beauty.  People comes to Chandigarh for different purposes. The purposes are education, jobs, official and judicial work, lastly to spend vacation. But, the city fails to provide 100% in any of the above mentioned purposes.

After a survey, students are not finding the best education. Apart from PU and its affiliated colleges, students does not have updated course structure. Job employment is not fine too, people coming from HP and other far flung areas find it difficult to live complete nutritional life as salary compensated to them are not upto the mark. Big MNCs are also offering lesser HRA to employees. If we talk about travel, Chandigarh is located at foothills of Shivalik range. Chandigarh merely, assumed as just a spot having many tourist places near to it. Chandigarh’ Rock garden, Sukhna Lake, Sector 17, Rose Garden and now Japanese garden, Elante Mall etc. is fine but something is missing, that can attract others to visit Chandigarh again and again, all this results that Chandigarh is not one of the top choices for visitors to spend holidays. Chandigarh is not first choice of investors and industrialists. Ludhiana in Punjab and Gurgaon in Haryana is wiser choice for them, than the city beautiful.

So Chandigarh is known for what?

Best in Education? No………

Best in Travel? No……….

Best in Jobs? No……….

Chandigarh is having all the three but having perfection in none. This makes Chandigarh to let it behind some big cities Delhi, Bangalore, Hyderabad, Ahmedabad etc. What can be done to make Chandigarh as best city, for which Chandigarh can get recognition worldwide. This is not issue that Chandigarh is not known worldwide. Chandigarh is known for its urban planning and infrastructure. This is good as an add-on, but it is not making Chandigarh as one of the best/top cities of India.
